A graduate of Calvin College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts, Ray is a firm believer in the role of Christian education in the life of the Christian community.
He believes that a knowledge of the Word of God, through which a Christian worldview is taught and modelled, is foundational to all activities of the Christian school. Ray has been passionate about Christian education throughout his career and delights in being able to speak about Christian day school education. Ray served as principal at Rhema Christian School in Peterborough for 23 years and as a teacher at Drayton Christian School prior to that. Beginning in 2008, he served as a Director for the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools, and as its Executive Director in it's final two years. His responsibilities included board leadership development, by-law and policy advice, leadership search and evaluation, and human resource support. He is a Certified Strategic Planner and regularly attends workshops — such as an annual one on charity law by the Carter Law Firm — keeping current on issues affecting school charities and their boards. School leaders, both board trustees and principals, and his colleagues attest to Ray’s availability, willingness to listen, and role as a sage advisor. His pastoral heart positions him as a welcome encourager and mentor for schools and their leaders.
