As one of their Canada 150 celebrations, the staff and students at Sonrise Christian Academy celebrated Canadiana Day recently. Students came dressed in their Canadian best—there were cowgirls, characters from Anne of Green Gables, hockey players, an RCMP officer… and even their own Justin Trudeau!
Students enjoyed a wide variety of Canadian foods, provided by families in the community, including bacon, meat pies, French toast with maple syrup, traditional soups, and of course poutine!
In the afternoon, students were placed in multi-aged groups that rotated through different stations where they participated in crafts, listened to Canadian folk music, learned about the making of maple syrup, and watched a National Film Board selection. It was a day of fun and celebration as the students celebrated all things Canada.
