Emily Heming, a graduating student from Toronto District Christian High School, was named Female Athlete of the Year this past week. The grade 12 student has had an impressive run at TD Christian, winning 18 medals over the past four years. In volleyball, she won a gold and a silver medal in tier 2, two silver medals in tier 1, two Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) gold medals, and two Ontario Christian Secondary School Althletic Association (OCSSAA) gold medals. In basketball, she won an OCSSAA silver medal. In soccer She won OFSAA bronze. In Ultimate frisbee, she won two silver medals. In badminton, she won bronze in grades 9 and 10, and four OCSSAA gold medals.
Emily is also the school’s two-time table tennis champion, and she won gold in the ultramural hockey league as well. Outside of school, she also plays rep-league ringette and golf.
In addition to the award for Female Athlete of the year, Emily was given the school’s Sue McIver award, which is awarded to the graduate who showed sportsmanship and leadership in sports. Congratulations, Emily!
