Grade 3 and 4 students from Timothy Christian School (TCS) prepared lunches this week for the David Busby Street Centre in Barrie, a non-profit working with the homeless. Each month during the school year, TCS students from Grades 4 to 6 are committed to donating and assembling items for lunches to be distributed through the David Busby Street Centre.
Each year Timothy Christian School has a theme verse to help inspire the students to develop their faith. This year’s theme is “Learners to Leaders: Rooted in Him” based on Colossians 2:7
“As a staff we integrate this theme into our classrooms and throughout the chapels this year as a reminder that we are equipping our students as young learners to be leaders in the Kingdom of God and we long to keep each student well grounded in their Christian faith throughout that journey,” says Rod Berg, Principal.
Community service work is an important part of the curriculum at TCS and the lunches for the street centre are just one of a number of efforts planned by the school this year to make a real difference in the city.
