Gleaning in grade 8

Written on June 20th, 2014

This June, the grade 8 class at Holland Marsh District Christian (HMDCS) School spent a day volunteering at Ontario Christian Gleaners, snapping asparagus and washing pails. This isn’t the first time that the HMDCS community has connected with Ontario Gleaners. In the fall, students from the school took to the fields and gleaned 13,000 pounds of carrots, which have now been dried and added to soup packages to feed the hungry in developing countries.

The Ontario Christian Gleaners is an Interdenominational Christian organization that seeks to show God’s love by working alongside volunteers to gather, process, and make surplus agricultural produce available for the relief of the hungry in overseas nations.
