Milton Christian School (MCS) had some very exciting news to share with their community last month. As of March 15th, 2016, they are the new owners of a property at 7419 Tremaine Road in Milton, where they plan to build a permanent new school facility.
In just under four months, the purchase amount for the new property has been raised through donations, and a generous trust loan. The school leadership has been blessed by the incredible stories of students, parents, and community members working together to raise funds for the new school property.
One MCS student requested that instead of receiving birthday gifts from her friends, they donate the money to the school fund. Another MCS community friend baked and sold cookies for an entire weekend to raise money for the property purchase. Other individuals and families are designing and implementing ideas to raise funds, including selling pizzas and running a scrapbooking bonanza event.
“Securing the land is just the beginning of a long and uncharted journey in front of us,” shared principal Mike Van Slingerland. “We do not currently have all the answers. However, what we do know with absolute certainty, is that the living God is one hundred per cent behind this.”
Mr. Van Slingerland went on to share that “MCS is more than just a private Christian school—it is a place for the community to come together and be a blessing to one another.” He is greatly looking forward to sharing more details and opportunities [for MCS] in the months ahead.
