OCS students bring back the salmon

Written on June 6th, 2014

With muddied shoes on their feet and mini fishing nets in hand, grade 5 and 6 students from Orangeville Christian School (OCS) knelt by water’s edge this May, to release Atlantic salmon hatchlings into of the Credit River. The school’s partnership with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH), gave students the opportunity to raise the eggs into hatchlings before setting them free.

Thanks to stocking programs facilitated by organizations like the OFAH and the Ministry of Natural Resources, close to one million Atlantic salmon have been re-introduced into the Credit River since 2007.
