Twelve grade 7 students participated in the 6th Annual Robotics & Engineering Challenge held at Glebe Community Centre on Saturday, Feb 27.
The theme of the challenge was the Summer Olympics and students were asked to build and program an autonomous robot that proceeded to the starting circle and hurled a shot put. The robot is a Lego NXT robot.
Ottawa Christian School entered two teams of 6 students, which they named “The Golden Rings”, and “The Mighty Throwing Warriors”.
The afternoon included a Mystery Challenge that was presented to the students at the event. They had to reassemble and program their robots for a curling challenge. The Mighty Throwing Warriors placed 2nd in this challenge.
Both teams did exceptionally well for young teams who have only been learning robotics for only eight-one hour sessions!
