Members of TDChristian’s Environmental Block (E-Block) program were recently named as recipients of the Vaughan ALIVE! Award. On May 19th, students in the two credit Grade 10 program attended a Vaughan Council meeting, where schools, organizations and businesses were recognized for their contributions and achievements in goodwill, beautification, environmental, active living and arts and culture.
Environmental Block is a Grade 10 program in which students learn how to care for the environment and act as stewards of creation, through hands-on projects and activities. The class keeps busy with weekly recycling & waste diversion jobs, outdoor environmental work, vermicomposting, and species identification. Dozens of effective projects have been completed by E-Block students over the years, including tree planting, City of Vaughan clean-up days, environmental cooking, path restoration and community gardening.
